Support and Share Night
January 7 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Leah is a resilient activist who resides in Ottawa, and is currently the Loss by Substance Use Program Coordinator here at BFO Ottawa. Her talk will primarily focus around her mother’s suicide and the role that BFO Ottawa played in gently guiding her through the long process to healing.
For 35 years, this monthly program has been supporting individuals and families on their journey of grief. The night begins with an educational talk, followed by an opportunity to connect with others who are grieving a similar loss to yours in one of our 8 support groups. Groups are led by trained facilitators who have grieved and experienced a loss similar to yours. You are not alone.
The evening begins with our guest speaker followed by break-out sessions into 9 different peer support groups:
- for Youth (high school age)
- loss of Child
- loss of Perinatal (miscarriage, stillbirth, infant)
- loss of Spouse
- loss of Parent/Other
- loss of Sibling/Friend
- by Suicide
- by MAiD (Medical Assistance in Dying)
- by Substance Use
