9TH ANNUAL BUTTERFLY MEMORIAL EVENT BY LIVE VIDEO
- 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
- Beechwood National Cemetery of Canada
Bereaved Families of Ontario – Ottawa Region (BFO Ottawa) believes that no one should have to grieve alone and in isolation. Too many people in Ottawa are having to deal with the added burden of not being able to say good-bye to their loved ones in person and not being able to gather to celebrate their lives because of Covid-19.
That’s why we’ve made more peer support programs available weekly throughout April, May and June by videoconferencing. And that’s also why we’ve decided to make our 9th annual butterfly memorial event available by live video from Beechwood, Canada’s national cemetery, on Sunday, July 12, 2020.
Last year more than 250 people attended our sold-out butterfly memorial event. As a community we raised $10,500, which helped fund our support and share programs and our closed groups. This year, we again need your support to help us raise the same amount. Everyone who donates $50 to us will receive a special invitation to attend.
When you make your donation, please remember to do so in honour of your loved ones, so that we can display their names onscreen during the ceremony, which will be broadcast from Beechwood’s Sacred Space. We welcome Scott and Anne Oake as distinguished guest speakers. And as we always do, after the ceremony we will release live butterflies in Beechwood’s Botanical Gardens.
After the event is over, we invite you to simply take a walk around your neighbourhood. It is in this way that on Sunday, July 12 we will honour and remember our loved ones together.
You can made a donation to our event on our donation form below.
